To be Included

When one is included it feeds the soul. But it is not the other side of being left out. Not including someone or others is not an intentional act, leaving (keeping) someone or many people out is.
I read a post this week that opened my eyes and softened my heart around this. Short version of the story was a woman who had recently lost her husband, daughter invited her to "pop in for dessert around 4" on Christmas day. Woman spent the day starting to feel resentful, but then realized that in daughter's mind she was trying to make her mothers day easier, mother felt left out and would have loved to sit on the sofa and let the day unfold around her. She realized that she wasn't left out she just wanted to be included. This brought me to tears.
This time of year it is easy to leave people out in our busy lives, but people just want to be included.
